SBA loans available for Belleville businesses after May fire

Small businesses and private nonprofit organizations in Belleville Township can now apply for low-interest Economic Injury Disaster Loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration. Governor Mikie Sherrill made this announcement on June 17 after securing a federal disaster declaration for the area.
The loans are available to entities affected by the fire that occurred on May 3, 2026. The SBA will have representatives present to answer questions regarding the application process for eligible applicants seeking financial recovery assistance.
Local leadership changes may also impact how the town handles this event. A new mayor is set to take office on July 1 and has already tapped two experts to assist with planning and recovery efforts in Belleville following the incident.
