Rockaway Township and Borough See Staff Changes, Industrial Sale

Andrew Ledet has been promoted to the rank of sergeant within the Morris County Sheriff's Office. This promotion continues his law enforcement career which began with the Morris County Park Police in 2017. Ledet is a native of Rockaway Township and attended Morris Hills High School.

During his time at high school, he competed in both football and lacrosse while earning All-Conference honors. His advancement to sergeant marks a significant step for a local resident who has served the community through various law enforcement roles over nearly a decade.

New Clerk Appointed in Rockaway Borough

Amanda Nevins has been appointed as the new municipal clerk for Rockaway Borough following an announcement approved by the borough council. She currently serves as the deputy clerk in Jefferson Township and will take on her new duties effective September 2. The appointment is contingent upon a successful background check.

The decision was made during the Rockaway Borough Council meeting held on Thursday, August 13. Nevins brings experience from her current role to the borough office where she will manage municipal records and administrative functions for residents.

Industrial Facility Sells in Township

Resource Realty of Northern New Jersey has arranged the sale of a standalone industrial facility located at 36 Pine Street in Rockaway. The property encompasses 53,252 square feet of space designed for intensive manufacturing or specialized logistics operations. It features heavy-duty infrastructure including two tailboard exterior dock doors and one drive-in bay.

The building is described as ideal for assembly work due to its high-utility design. This transaction represents a shift in ownership for the industrial submarket asset which has been on the market recently.

Public Safety Updates Across District

A 56-year-old woman from Rockaway was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after a traffic stop in Denville. Police officers observed a moving violation on Route 53 at 11:34 p.m. on Thursday, August 13 before conducting the motor vehicle stop.

The driver identified as Bianca Kaye showed signs of impairment during the encounter which led to her arrest and subsequent charges. This incident highlights ongoing traffic enforcement efforts along major corridors connecting Rockaway with neighboring towns like Denville.

Residents in portions of Rockaway are scheduled for early morning adult mosquito control treatments this week weather permitting. The Morris County Division of Mosquito Control will conduct these operations between 4:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. using all-terrain vehicles due to increased populations.

These treatments target areas in East Hanover, Green Village, Florham Park, and Rockaway where mosquito activity has risen significantly. Residents are advised that the early timing is intended to minimize disruption while addressing public health concerns related to insect vectors.
