Governor Mikie Sherrill announced on Wednesday that the state has successfully removed 5,100 noncitizens from its voter rolls. This action is part of an ongoing effort to address the discovery that these individuals were erroneously registered to cast ballots in New Jersey elections.
The registration errors occurred under the administration of former Governor Phil Murphy and involved a flawed software system at Motor Vehicle Commission sites. Officials stated that approximately 340 of the voters who were removed from the rolls had actually cast ballots in previous elections.
