Proponents of the rally cite health risks associated with these facilities and point to New Jersey's history of environmental contamination, noting it holds more Superfund sites than any other state. They reference a 2025 lawsuit settlement where the state secured over $2 billion from DuPont for contaminating Sayreville and other towns with PFAS and toxic chemicals.
