Chatham Skater Wins National Title as Library Renovation Plans Unfold

Lydia Castelblanco, an 18-year-old from Chatham, has secured the Senior Ladies Figures national title in her tenth year competing. She achieved this milestone as part of a larger success for the Florham Park Figure Skating Club at the USA Roller Sports United States National Championships held in Lincoln, Nebraska.

The competition saw ten skaters representing the club travel to compete on the national stage. Seven of these athletes earned a combined total of 14 medals during the event, marking a significant achievement for the local skating community.

Beyond her individual title win, Castelblanco is among two athletes from the Florham Park Figure Skating Club who have qualified for Team USA to compete at the world level. This qualification represents the highest tier of competition available to these young skaters following their performance in Nebraska.

Chatham High School is currently ranked No. 38 in New Jersey and holds a national position of No. 625 according to these latest evaluations. The report notes that Science Park now ranks higher than Livingston, Summit, Ridge, Princeton, and Chatham high schools which were previously considered top performers.
