Bloomfield property sells for $2.35M; Dems win most council seats

A mixed-use building on Watsessing Ave changed hands while the Democratic organization retained control of two ward council races.

The Kislak Company Inc. sold a multifamily and retail property at 25-27 Watsessing Ave in Bloomfield for $2.35 million, according to real estate reports.

Jeff Squires handled the assignment on behalf of the seller, Watsessing Property Management, while Tom Scatuorchio procured the buyer.

In local politics, the Democratic organization won two of three ward council seats in a primary that divided top state Democrats.

Incumbents Gonzalez and Cruz secured renomination despite losing one seat to challengers during the election cycle.

Democratic chairman Venezia rejected claims of a progressive takeover, arguing the organization emerged stronger from the contest.
